The demand for care in the home has never been greater than it is today, Scott Powers, CEO and chairman of Elara Caring, told McKnight’s Home Care in a Newsmakers podcast. In the next five years, the provider of home care services in 225 locations across 16 states is hoping to develop its skilled-nursing-at-home capabilities; grow its behavioral health offerings; and become a Medicare Advantage convener, a risk-bearing entity that builds networks and does utilization management.
Elara Caring CEO and Chairman Scott Powers talked about the firm’s innovative services, including behavioral health, palliative care and ElaraConnect, a personalized care platform. Also, with the rise of Medicare Advantage and value-based care, Powers believes that it’s important for home care providers to be in risk-bearing arrangements. He also pushed back on a report critical of private equity in home health. Elara Caring is under private equity ownership.
