Less than two years after it was established, Moving Health Home is affecting change in Washington, DC. The coalition of healthcare providers dedicated to expanding care in the home is concentrating on the growth of three main areas: hospital-at-home, postoperative care in the home and the array of other services now available in the home, such as dialysis, home infusion and personal care services. Krista Drobac, executive director of the organization, talked to McKnight’s Home Care about the pandemic's role in creating the organization, the main challenge the coalition is facing and how Medicare Advantage is helping to support the mission.
Executive Director Krista Drobac talked to McKnight’s Home Care about the organization’s main challenge — getting policymakers on board — and the group’s success — exposing the diversity of care that is possible in the home. She voiced opposition to the proposed home health rule and said she was as surprised as everyone else when Amazon Care, a founding member of the coalition, disclosed it is closing at the end of the year. Meanwhile, she is excited about the possibility of Medicare Advantage, which is “showing the way of what could be done in fee-for-service,” she said.
